Blown Away! MORTAL KOMBAT PROJECT!

If you’re a fan of retro gaming, you had to have been bitten by the Mortal Kombat bug at some point in your gaming life. We still prefer the 2D version of Mortal Kombat over what is being produced today, and I’m guessing that we are not alone. Enter Mortal Kombat Project.

The amount of out of the box, selectable fighters, is stunning. I still did not know what to expect in terms of how this would feel or play. After 30 minutes or so, my concerns were also put to rest. What an amazing time this is to be a retro gamer! Finish Him… or Her!

This one leaves no stone unturned. Custom character bio screens, new arena levels, sounds and modes, all a part of this stellar effort. I would love to see this delivered to actual hardware, but that might be asking too much for consoles such as the Sega Genesis. All of that additional content might push beyond what the Genesis can handle. The last thing I need is to invest in another Paprium type of fiasco. Yes, I still have a sour taste in my mouth over the money I invested ( and lost ) into that seemingly promising project a few years back. Ok, so back to our regularly scheduled program. While you will not find this on your favorite retro console, this is worth checking out if you have a gaming PC. Get yourself a Genesis or SNES usb based controller and get mashing! The video below is actual gameplay that we recorded and later commented over. Classic MK is alive and well, and you’ll want this in your collection!
